We provide a wide range of community-based services at our Early Intervention Program to assist kids and families in achieving their milestones. Our program aims to promote healthy growth and development in all facets of children’s life by treating developmental delays in children from birth to age three.
Early Intervention (0 - 3 years old)
At Special Scholars Early Intervention, we understand that your child’s early years are critical for their future success. That’s why we offer comprehensive Early Intervention services for children under the age of three who have or are suspected of having a developmental delay and/or disability. As an approved and regulated provider with the NYS Department of Health and the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, we are dedicated to providing the best care out there for your child.
Developmental evaluations and a variety of treatment services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, are all available via our program. In order to assist you in promoting the development of your kid, we also provide parent education seminars, support groups, and personalized assistance. Regardless of the difficulties you may be experiencing, our family support programs are intended to help your family thrive.
We offer comprehensive developmental assessments to help identify a child's strengths and areas for growth. Our team of experienced professionals uses a variety of tools and methods to evaluate children's development in areas such as communication, motor skills, cognitive abilities, and social-emotional development. We work closely with families to ensure that each assessment is tailored to the child's individual needs and developmental level. Our assessments are designed to provide a clear understanding of a child's current abilities and to help identify any potential developmental delays or concerns.
Our therapy services are designed to support children's development and help them achieve milestones. Our therapists work closely with families to develop individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each child. We provide therapy sessions both in-person and online, and the frequency and duration of therapy sessions vary depending on the child's needs. We aim to provide high-quality therapy services that are both effective and enjoyable for children.
Through structured ABA sessions, we focus on developing essential skills such as communication, social interactions, and adaptive behaviors through a variety of techniques. The ABA sessions typically take place in a one-on-one setting, with a therapist implementing the interventions and strategies identified in the plan. These sessions involve breaking down desired skills into small, manageable steps and using positive reinforcement to teach and encourage the child's progress. We believe in celebrating every milestone, no matter how small, and will provide you with ongoing feedback and guidance throughout your child's journey.
We understand that parents play a critical role in their child's development, and we are committed to providing resources and support to help them in this important role. We offer parent education classes, support groups, and individualized guidance on how to support a child's development. Our team of professionals is available to answer questions and provide ongoing support, guiding you through the Early Intervention Program and connecting you with the appropriate services and resources to meet your child's needs. We understand the importance of a strong support system. That's why we offer a variety of workshops and support groups for parents and caregivers. These sessions provide valuable information, practical strategies, and a supportive community where you can connect with others facing similar challenges, empowering you with knowledge and fostering a sense of belonging.
Special Instruction services are aimed at enhancing children's learning and developmental opportunities. The program operates on the principle of strengthening key skills in a supportive and structured environment. Special Instructors work closely with parents and families, integrating the program into the child's daily routine to ensure a comprehensive learning experience. The fundamental objective is to positively influence child development by extending their learning opportunities beyond traditional settings, thereby fostering a continuous growth environment. The family-centered approach not only enhances the child's learning but also empowers parents to support their child's development effectively.
Our Early Intervention Program also offers additional related services such as Speech/Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, each designed to uplift our young learners. Speech/Language Pathology focuses on enhancing communication skills, while Occupational Therapy aids in improving everyday skills necessary for the child's independence. Physical Therapy is designed to boost motor skills and overall physical development. Each of these services is meticulously designed to uplift and promote the well-being of our young learners, aligning with our commitment to holistic child development.

Special Scholars Early Intervention holds a contractual agreement with the New York State Department of Health, Bureau Of Early Intervention, to administer Early Intervention (EI) services. Our program is authorized, regulated, and financially supported by both the New York State Department of Health and the New York City Department Of Health & Mental Hygiene. The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a publicly-funded initiative aimed at providing support to children under the age of 3 who either show signs of developmental delays or are at risk of experiencing disabilities. Determination of eligibility for EIP can only be made by evaluators approved by the state and working under a contractual arrangement. All necessary ei services for eligible children are identified in collaboration with the parent and require authorization from the designated official at the NYC Early Intervention Office. The service coordinator will facilitate the arrangement of service providers, taking into account the unique needs of the child and family, as authorized by the NYC Early Intervention Office. Upon request, EI services can be provided at childcare facilities or other community locations. However, it is the responsibility of parents to cover any associated fees when availing services at these locations. It’s important to note that all EIP services are provided to parents free of charge, although health insurance may be utilized to cover approved services.
Early Intervention is proven to have a positive impact!
